P.O. Box 2171 Sault Ste. Marie MI. 49783 (906) 632-2287 The Peninsula Animal Welfare Society, was founded in 1986 when it was recognized that a humane organization was so desperately needed in the upper Peninsula of Michigan where hundreds of animals were being destroyed, without a chance, just because they were born and homeless. By 1990 P.A.W.S. was granted non-profit status by the federal government. Unlike national organizations all donations go toward helping the animals, we have no paid employees. We receive no state or federal funding and rely solely on donations and fund raisers for our operating expenses. We are very grateful to the many local businesses and caring individuals for their continuing support. Without them we would not have been able to help so many animals, but it's always an up hill struggle and as hard as we try we are constantly in the red. Since we do not have a shelter, and the foster homes we do have are filled to capacity, we cannot help more animals until we find homes for the ones that are already in our care and for one reason or another some of our rescued animals will probably never find a loving home and will stay with us all of their lives. Won't you be a friend to the animals by either providing a loving home for one of them or by donating to help foster and care for the ones that may never find a home of their own. PAWS is a licensed charitable organization and all donations are tax deductible. Upon request, we will be happy to furnish you with a receipt. We never euthanize animals unless it is absolutely necessary, i.e. severe medical problems or serious behavioral problems, such as biting and/or aggressiveness. Please take a few minutes and look around our site!
